It was such a lovely day underneath the ocean. The Sea was calm and all the manner of life that existed beneath the waves went about the day doing what nature intended them all to do.

Schools of fish swam about. Dolphins laughed and played in their pods and the whales sung their calming songs making the sea creatures relax and take in the soothing sounds.

However the gentle songs were drowned out as the sounds of laughter filled the surrounding reefs. Coming over the small hills that led deep into a ravine where an old sunken ship layed was a naga who couldn’t stop laughing.

“Come on you two!” He called to a red haired green finned mermaid below him and a yellow tropical fish who was catching up with the mermaid coming up to the top of the ravine.

“You shouldn’t swim so far without us.” Ariel scolded playfully as a tail wrapped around her shoulders pulling him into the chest of the naga.

“Well someone has to make sure the coast is clear you know?” Steth laughed holding the mermaid close as she wrapped her arms around him.

For the past few months since the very day when Steth and Ariel proclaimed their true feelings to each other they became closer than ever. Time after time not only were they always embarking upon their next adventure almost every single day when they could meet up, they became quite the couple.

A Bond between a mermaid and a naga. Completely unheard of before in all the sea. Despite their differences by the races they were. They found so much in common with one another and discovered something more they were more proud to be than they ever could.

Though only they wish they didn’t have to keep such a relationship a secret. There only so very few that knew about their relationship together.

A certain fish that finally caught to the couple took several deep breaths to regain himself was one of the few who knew of their relationship and despite the shock at first he happily accepted it.

“Can’t you ever wait for me?” Flounder panted earning a laugh from both the naga and mermaid still in each other’s embrace.

“We would but it’s not our fault you happen to get stuck in the port hole of that ship when we left.” Steth chuckled earning a giggle from, Ariel. Flounder however gave an unamused look at the duo.

Ariel giggled some more at her little fish friends face. He was so adorable when he made faces. She reached over and brought him under her arm. “Oh, Flounder don’t be such a guppy we would never leave you behind at all.”

“Hey! I’m not a guppy!” Flounder whined.

The little fish’s protest only made, Ariel and Steth laugh some more. “Indeed, Flounder. Where would we all be without you keeping us both safe and aware of where we go all the time.” Steth said giving the fish a pet on his head.

“Hey!” Flounder pouted flaying his little fins about.

The Naga and Mermaid laughed some more until, Ariel sighed sadly. “It’s too bad that we didn’t find anything today.”

Steth made small grin on his face reaching into a bag that he had tied to his side. Since Ariel and he became engaged in a relationship he believed it necessary to start carrying a bag as well so he could pick anything of interest as, Ariel, did anytime they went exploring.

“I wouldn’t say that, Ariel.” Steth assured grabbing something from his bag.

“Why is that?” Ariel asked.

“For I found this in that old wreak.” Steth pulled out a small piece of jewelry that had two pointed ends on it. If the jewels weren’t enough there was a small carving of what appeared to be a whale on it.

“Steth!” Ariel gasped as the naga handed the small piece of jewelry towards her. “Oh my gosh! It’s beautiful! What is it?”

“This my dear, Ariel...” Steth began taking a flock of, Ariel’s red hair and placed the two pointed ends into some of the flocks and when he finished the small current flayed, Ariel’s hair and the jewelry piece stayed perfectly in piece. “…is called a hair pin. Its what human females above I noticed placed in their hair either just to keep their hair in place or simply just to make themselves more glorious and I do say you look absolutely beautiful with it in your lovely locks.”

Ariel was beyond any words. Truly, Steth was one of the kindest and most adoring of creatures. She threw away all doubts about how his kind was on the day he saved her. No matter what any would say, Steth, truly is a symbol of kind nature and someone she was so glad to call the one she adored.

She threw her arms around his neck and kissed both his cheeks so thankful for his generous find that he gave to her. “Thank you, Steth that is very sweet of you.”

Steth chuckled so happy that he could make her smile by finding something of true value to give to one he called his most precious wrapping his arms around her pulling her into a hug.

Flounder smiled at the scene for he really was happy for both Ariel and Steth. Despite the difference they both seemed to be made for each other. Steth really was remarkable and very different from everything he ever heard of his kind. Though deep inside he believed not all of, Steth’s, kind were like him but he was glad to know one that wasn’t anything bad and best of all he was making, Ariel happy and when she was happy , Flounder was equal in feeling.

“That was very kind of you, Steth.” Flounder said with a smile.

“Its no trouble at all my little friend.” The Naga reached over and petted the little fish’s head but this time, Flounder was more welcoming of it.
After a few moments, Ariel let go of, Steth looking at her hair with the jeweled whale hair pin staying right in place as the gentle current waved her long red hair. Truly she admired such a beautiful human creation and it truly was special by it being given by, Steth.

“Thank you very much, Steth. Really I don’t know how to even say…” Ariel couldn’t find the words, Steth’s generosity was always of the unexpected and yet so welcoming when he did.

Steth only smiled more for seeing the one he cared more than anything so happy made his heart burn with warmth. “It is my pleasure, Ariel.” He gently fiddled his fingers in her hair making the mermaid giggle.

With their exploration in the wreaked ship in ravine done and Steth had given his gift,

Flounder suggested that maybe they should head back home. It may be only past midday but given that Ariel being one of the many princess’s of Atlantica it wouldn’t be wise to be away if her father needed her for some reason and to find out she has left boundaries of the underwater kingdom yet again to explore something of humans she would yet again not hear the end of his reprimand on her about looking for what he considered junk of the surface world especially since many of the wreaks were in the known shark invested waters.

Ariel agreed along with, Steth. Together they all swam over the many reefs. Staying close together to hold hands as the naga and mermaid were more focused on each other than they were paying attention to where they were going.

That ended up being a mistake for there was a large piece of coral coming out from one of the reefs and not watching where they were heading to the surprise of, Ariel, and sudden shock of pain, Steth collided with the reef with a loud thud.

Ariel put her hands on her mouth realizing she accidently lead the naga straight into the coral. She felt so ashamed and such a fool for allowing that to happen but after taking a moment to get some sense back into his head, Steth only laughed assuring he wasn’t hurt at all and took the blame of the impact on himself for he should have watched where he was going.

Another trait that, Ariel, admired was his modesty. Over the time that she knew him never once even if something was her fault he never accused her of it and took the blame of himself even though at times some of the faults were her obvious doing, Steth never wanted, Ariel to feel bad about herself for he wanted to always see her smiling for that smile brought him warmth. Something he nearly never had before in his life and he wanted to always keep that feeling.

After another brief laugh the two adoring ones joined back up with, Flounder and headed towards the borders of Atlantica.

After a few more minutes of swimming and this time more focused up front than each other, the trio eventually came into view of the grand kingdom which its palace was so large in size that it towered over everything around the kingdom and even all the bottom of the sea. Shining brightly and being the very center of all the mer people’s dwelling.

Though they could see the kingdom the trio always kept their distance from any wandering eyes. For with, Steth being a naga he would no doubt set a panic within the kingdom if anyone that didn’t know him saw him.

“Here we are!” Flounder said.

Ariel smiled as she gazed upon her home. Though she felt her heart belonged elsewhere she always loved where she came from. Truly such a magnificent place for all who could call it home. It saddened her greatly for not being able to ever bring, Steth into it. For she had seen his home and though it wasn’t much to what anyone else would say she thought it was a most
wonderful abroad for anyone to call him and yet she could never return the gesture by letting him see her’s from the inside and only just as far out from anyone could spot them.

“Well I’ll see you all tomorrow then.” Steth embraced, Ariel from behind and gave, Flounder one last pet on the head before taking his leave but, Ariel quickly stopped him.

“Wait, Steth don’t go just yet.” Ariel pleaded really not wanting him to leave her side.

“But, Ariel you know he can’t come.” Flounder said but then covered his mouth for he accidently reminded the naga on how his kind would not be welcome. “Uh…I’m sorry Steth.” Flounder
apologized.

Though, Steth never liked not having the opportunity to visit the city cause of his race he accepted it for there are some things one can never have but hopefully one day that all can change. “It’s alright, Flounder.” Steth accepted the little fish’s apology.

“I don’t mean come to the city. I mean can you come with me to my grotto?” Ariel asked bumping into his side playfully leaning her down near his chest.

“Oh!” Steth chuckled nervously for he suddenly got the idea what she wanted. “Uh…of course, Ariel.”

The Mermaid smiled so glad accepted and looked at, Flounder. The little fish got that she wanted to spend more time with, Steth.

“Alright if your father wants you ill come by.” Flounder assured.

“Thank you.” Ariel came up and gave her first friend a gentle hug so grateful that he always would help her in any way possible. “Good bye.”

“Bye Ariel. Bye Steth.” Flounder waved before swimming towards Atlantica.

“Take care, Flounder.” Steth waved at the yellow fish who soon disappeared among the mass’s of buildings surrounding the great palace.

“Shall we?” Steth asked offering an arm out.

“We shall.” Ariel smiled as she swam into the Naga’s awaiting arm which then wrapped around her waist holding her close.

The Mermaid placed an arm over, Steth’s shoulder and he took her left hand into his and held her both by hand and by mid section gently rubbing her side.

Steth slowly swam away from the borders of Atlantica and with; Ariel in his loving hold took her to her secret grotto. She showed him it many months ago so finding it was simple for him and as with the only friends of, Ariel, who know about it he kept it a secret.

Soon enough they arrived to large round stone that acted as if it was meant to hid something. Steth let go of, Ariel and opened up the entrance.
Ariel swam inside as; Steth went inside and placed the stone pack in place.

Steth then found the mermaid sitting in the middle of the cavern within and decorated all along the many walls and shelves that surrounded the place where treasures of the surface world that most, Ariel found herself along some that she discovered around the time when she and Steth met and started to search for treasures and unique finds together.

The Naga joined the mermaid and sat with her. They nuzzled into each other for being there together in, Ariel’s special place meant a lot to the both of them. While they embraced, Steth looked around to admire the many wonders and galores of, Ariel’s, findings.

Though he had seen the grotto many times before he was always in wonder on not only the many treasures, Ariel had collected over the years but also admired how her fascination led her to discover so many items.

“Seeing your grotto again always makes me be in awe, Ariel.” Steth admitted.

“I appreciate that, Steth.” Ariel smiling moving in front of him.

“So I could tell in your voice before flounder left that you wanted me to come here and not just so we can be alone.” Steth implied with a sly grin having gotten know, Ariel though out the months he tended to know when she was up to something.

Ariel blushed knowing he was right. She swam to a large harp that stood in the middle of the ground of the grotto.

“Ah, the Harp!” Steth beamed. The Harp was one of the biggest finds he and Ariel have found. They discovered it submerged in sand near a wreaked ship almost a month ago. Working together both the mermaid and naga pried it out of the ground and brought it to, Ariel’s grotto where he then told, Ariel that it’s an instrument made by humans which can create the most wonderful of melody’s if played right.

“I have been practicing on this for awhile now and I really wanted to show you, Steth.” Ariel admitted taking a seat right behind the large harp got her fingers ready on the strings.

Steth made sure he got comfortable for it would be a delight to see how, Ariel was coming along with it. “Go ahead, Ariel” Steth motioned.

Ariel smiled beginning to draw her hands back and forth on the musical instrument as each soft pull of the string sent soft melody’s throughout the grotto.

The Soft music entranced the naga as his body felt relax through the soft tunes that, Ariel played.
But as the mermaid played the harp she began to sing a song. She sang a most adoring song with her voice that made her sound like an angel.
Her beautiful singing along with the soft rhythmus of the harp made the naga feel so warm and so passionate. The Mermaid entranced him with a song about friendship and love.

Her song touched Steth’s heart. He was almost in tears. How did he ever come so lucky to have found such a beautiful, caring, and wonderful mermaid? All he did was save her from an octopus and she opened up to him. She looked past everything about him and got to know him who he was on the inside.

Though when he learned about her he was fascinated as well as feeling a bit shameful. She was no ordinary mermaid. She was one princess’s of the city of Atlantica. The Youngest daughter of King Triton. How could he ever be worthy of the love of princess?

He felt he was nothing compared to her. While lived a life of solitude she was a royal. She lived the life of luxury and protection. Never had she had to worry about anything and one day lead her people. But some reason she wasn’t part of it at heart. She wanted something else. She wanted learn of the outside, particularly the surface world.

She was not what anyone would expect of a princess. Ariel could not even at times be considered one with how she seemed to always avoid anything that would require a royal’s attention. She was only fascinated by things that are considered forbidden to see.

And with the fact that she was a royal how could she ever come to love someone that not only is a different race but considered a pesky commoner compared to what she is.

Though doubts and objections of such a pair would plague his mind, Steth ignored it. For such questions could never stop him from being with, Ariel. She truly was the pinnacle of his happiness. Never once in his life had he ever been so happy and no matter what comes he would be there for, Ariel, no matter what.

Soon, Ariel finished her song and stopped playing the harp. The Melodies echoed around the grotto and eventually came to silence as the mermaid let out one final note from her beautiful voice which made Steth’s heart beat with love.

“How was I, Steth?” Ariel asked but no sooner did she ask a tail wrapped around her waist and immediately pulled her straight into the Naga’s awaiting arms and before, Ariel, could react her lips were met by, Steth’s.

The Mermaid and Naga continued their passionate moment until; Steth broke away from the kiss. He felt a bit of shame rushing, Ariel like that and frowned.

“I’m sorry, Ariel…I shouldn’t have done that.” Steth looked away with shame but, Ariel took hold of his chin and made him look back at her and she stared into his eyes with care and love.

“Don’t be. I love it when you do that.” Ariel smiled warmly making, Steth, smile back. “So how was I?”

The Naga brought his arms around the mermaid. “It was beautiful, Ariel. I would say the best you have ever done.”

“Thank you, Steth.” Ariel brought her lips back onto, Steth’s and once more they danced within the passionate embrace of their lips bestowing the love they had for each other.
