A Boy, A Tragedy, A New Mother Chapter 29

Bryan stood in place so many emotions were going through him. Of all of the emotions that surged the one that he felt that was the apex of them all. He was Happy. Bryan slowly smiled as he opened his eyes to be greeted with Galaron his new grandfather smiling at him.

       “Your face shows what you are feeling; your smile shows joy and the tears I see falling is of happiness.” Galaron chuckled as Bryan ran up to him and hugged his muzzled catching the Elder Dragon off guard for a moment but he brought his wing around the boy and nuzzled him.

“Thank…you.” Bryan whispered rubbing his head against the Dragons cheek.

“Not a thing you need to thank me for. This is an honor to finally have a grandson. It’s I and us all who should be thanking you little one.” Galaron replied withdrawing his wing as Saria came up to the boy and lifted him up with her tail.

“As your ‘Grandfather’ has said, it’s we who are in thanks to you little Bryan.” She thanked as she brought the boy to her chest and hugged him gently.

Bryan eagerly returned the hug as his parents, Romana and other Dragons watched with adoration. Selena and Zenith nuzzled each other and shared a passionate kiss as they too were in tears over the declaration of their son becoming part of the society of dragons and having him introduced to his new grandparents.

Romana clasped her hands together as she was so touched by the display of love that was being shared by everyone as she has been a dear friend to the Dragons and in a rare moment of history is a human becoming a grandchild of the council and she was fortunate enough to witness such an occasion.

Soon the Elder Dragon released her hold on the boy and set him back on the floor. “Now my dear, what is it you wish to do now?” Saria asked.

Bryan wondered for a moment but an idea quickly struck him. “May I take a look around, grandmother?” He replied but smiled when he said ‘grandmother’

“Of Course.” Saria grinned. “Please take in our humble abode. See what your new heritage awaits you and soon a meal will be ready in the honor of our new subject.”

“Let’s go Bryan.” Selena called finally releasing her hold on Zenith.

“Coming mom.” Bryan ran up to Selena where she let him climb on her back and walked out of the Elder’s chamber along with Romana and Zenith as Bryan waved at his dragon grandparents and the other council members as they gave him farewell nods as the walls sealed when the group left leaving the Council alone in their chamber.

“I cannot believe this.” Bryan gasped still trying to come to fact that he was part of the Dragons truly now, taking another look at the palms of his hands seeing the marks on them.

“Believe or not my son, your one of us now.” Zenith chuckled as they walked down a passage passing a few dragons at a time. Some of the Dragons just looked at Bryan with warm smiles and some wanted to talk to the boy.

Bryan eventually wanted to walk so Selena stopped and let the boy down. When the Boy was on the floor many Dragons that were the size of Sarika or smaller came up to him and started to shower the boy with many questions to the point where he had to take cover behind Selena’s leg to somehow escape them to both his parents and the parents of other dragons amused chuckles each so glad to have Bryan within their society.

The Parents of the little dragons that bombarded the boy had their children give the little boy his space.

“Sorry about our little ones disturbing your child.” One Dragon apologized.

“There is no trouble at all. We are all greatly excited this day.” Selena accepted and chuckled as the Dragon she spoke to, took her children away to their disappointment.

The Group restarted their walk down the passageway as Bryan looked at Romana. “Excuse me; I really wanted to thank you for making me that food for the trip.”

Romana looked at Bryan using the tip of her tail to gently stroke his cheek. “Your most welcome, my darling. I’m so happy for you and I’m proud to be here with you today.”

Bryan giggled when Romana stroked his cheek as her tail was warm to the touch. While they walked on they occasionally passed more chambers filled with food, crystals and more nests.

“Uh…Father why is there so many rooms with Crystals?” Bryan asked.

“Well my son, Many Dragons that reside here mine and create the crystals. There are also many out in the world, Ones like myself who do the same in other areas. We harvest them and bring them here where they can be used and distributed among all dragons for our use.” Zenith explained.

“And why are there so many dragons here as well?” Bryan asked once more. Zenith smiled along with the others for with their son asking these questions seeking knowledge of his new heritage was warming their hearts.

“As you see with all of them here. The Dragons all gather and live here in relative safety” Zenith started to explain. “This is where many dragons start their lives or wish to live close to the council. They may choose to stay or live where they want in the world. This great dwelling is the center of all dragons.”

“So it’s like a capital?” Bryan inquired.

“In your terms, Bryan. Yes it is.” Zenith confirmed.

Bryan nodded for it made a lot of sense why there were so many dragons with the rooms filled with crystals and others with food. When the thought of food came to his mind a growl could be heard.

“Sounds like someone is hungry?” Selena teased

“I guess my provisions were not enough.” Romana added with a smile lifting Bryan’s shirt up and gave his belly a quick tickle making him giggle shoving her hands away.

“Then let us be off to where the meal is being prepared.” Zenith acknowledged.

The Group made a left walking down another passageway where two large dragons stood sentry at another door. One placed a talon on a nearby crystal to open the walls. The Group entered as the walls closed behind them.

The Group was met by another dragon inside that just finished setting a large piece of meat laying on a large flat rock. As the meat sizzled becoming tender he looked to see his guests.

“Ah! This must be the human who is joined with us, if I’m not mistaken.” He inquired in a friendly tone as the Dragon ripped out a few pieces of meat setting them to the side.

“Yes your are correct.” Selena affirmed “Bryan is now one of us.”

“Well Welcome to your new home and life little Bryan.” The Dragon welcomed as he chuckled seeing the boys mouth smack a bit for he was a bit hungry. “I can tell your hungry.”

“Thank you sir and I am kinda.” Bryan laughed meekly.

“I prepared some meat and some apples for you and the Naga.”  The Dragon layed the slabs of cooked meat and a couple of apples onto smaller rocks as Bryan and Romana gave him their thanks.

“If you find yourself a thirst, this pond here is filled with clear and cool water.” The Dragon added looking at the nearby pond that slowly poured from the top of the cavern they were in.

“Thank you very much sir.” Bryan thanked as he along with Romana began to eat.

“Think nothing of it little one.” The Dragon replied as he looked at Selena and Zenith pointed with his wing to the other side of the cavern where there were a few corpses of deer ready for them to feast on as well.

The Whole family dug into the meal that was layed and made out for them. The Dragon that made it left the cavern to give them their privacy to eat. Bryan along with Romana feasted upon the cooked meat and Bryan refilled his water bottle along with it as Selena and Zenith ate the deceased deer that was left them.

Soon enough each of them finished their meals as Bryan was so full that he slumped nearly onto the floor if Romana didn’t make her tail into a bed of coils for the boy to land on. She chuckled as she lifted him back up.

“Seems your full.” She teased stroking his hair.

“Yeah…I think I am.” Bryan tried to suppress a yawn but couldn’t as Selena and Zenith smiled.

“It seems he is at the end of his day.” Zenith pointed out.

“I agree, I believe it’s time for us to get some rest for it’s a long journey home tomorrow.” Selena agreed as she picked up Bryan from Romana and they touched a nearby crystal opening up the walls and left the Cavern.

Selena carried Bryan with Zenith and Romana following her. A Nearby Dragon guard was waiting for them as he came up to the group.

“The Council has sent me to take you all to your chamber for your place to sleep.” He said with a respectful bow.

“Of Course, Thank you.” Selena replied as the group followed the Dragon through a few passageways’ and past more curious dragon children. Soon they came up to an open chamber with a large nest inside it.

The Guard stopped as they reached it. “The Council wishes you all a very pleasant sleep and they will see you before you depart in the morning.” He said before bowing one more time then left.

Selena crawled into the nest first and settled herself down before Zenith joined at her side as Romana entered last making a bed of coils to lie on.

“Good night everyone.” Romana said then looked at Zenith directly “Thank you for bringing me here. I’m so honored to have watched as your son became part of your kind.” She thanked.

“You’re very welcome and the honor is ours. Good dreams to you Romana.” Zenith said as Romana turned to her side and slowly drifted to sleep.

Zenith wrapped his wing over Selena as she set the boy on her belly as he snuggled into her. “Good night mother, good night father.” Bryan said.

“Good night my son, sweet dreams my little one.” Selena cooed giving the boy a gentle lick on him before he closed his eyes and fell asleep. Zenith and Selena looked at the boy with admiralty so happy that he now was truly one of them and history was made this very day and the boy has now become very special to be the first human in many years to become part of Dragon kind. The Dragons shared a passionate kiss before they laid their heads next to Bryan and fell asleep with him.
