A Boy, A Tragedy, A New Mother Chapter 28

The Dragons flew on with their human son safely within their grasp as they passed over the forest below. The Sun was shining throughout the cloudy day and the Dragons stayed just above the tree line both so happy for today was going to set everything straight for their son.

          Bryan remained within Selena’s grasp as so many thoughts were going through his mind. He wondered how it was going to go, He pondered of what his new grandparents were going to think of him and so many other questions that were making him shake with so much anticipation that Selena had to gently tighten her grasp around him for her claws tickled from his shaking.

           Selena looked at Zenith and nodded as Zenith returned it and flew another way leaving Selena to fly alone. Zenith flew in a different direction and headed straight to a very familiar tree that stood high among the rest of the forest next to the river.

          While Zenith landed out of sight Selena flew on towards where the Dragon Council lied. Selena flew on and out of sure luck of fate she came over the very bridge  where Bryans life changed forever and there road cones and team of humans in uniforms working on the destroyed guard rails as well as others in different uniforms directed the occasion vehicle coming past them. One of the vehicles that were parked at the scene of the incident was a black car and two men were looking over the scene talking to each realizing that there was some type of accident and they had to call it in.

           These men were detectives for the local authorities as they looked over not just the damaged guard rails but noticed there was pieces of blown out tire scattered across the bridge summarizing that a car must have damaged its tire and lost control driving through the guard rail and went into the river below. They called up to their superiors for everything they would need for a possible rescue but little did they know they were too late for such a thing. Meanwhile Selena who already passed over them staying very high in the sky continued on.
           
           For a good few hours the Dragon went on passing over more forests, valleys, over more mountains. The Dragon traveled through many clouds that hid her from any wondering eyes of humans that were traveling on roads or in their homes as Selena had to keep moving on to the destination of her flight.

          Bryan layed within her grasp as from time to time he munched onto the food that was graciously given to him. He eagerly ate the meat sandwich that was still steaming fresh and it tasted tender and juicy. He moaned at how good it tasted and still couldn’t believe how Romana made it all for him. He just has to see her again and thank her for it when he gets the chance. Little did he know he would get it sooner than he would believe.

           Bryan continued to eat his food and drank a few swigs of water from his water bottle as Selena flew on peering through the clouds as she watched to see where she was going and to find the spot she would have to land once she laid eyes on what she had to see that would be the designated spot where the council would be.


         After another few hours Selena came across a valley.  Around the valley laid a nicely dense forest that looked like that was not touched by man or its machines. There were no human settlements or even roadways for many miles. The Only thing that was human in it was old wooden fences that ventured some part around it and a sign lying next to a toppled gate saying preserved.

          Selena slowly landed just outside the forest and looked to see a toppled path laid before them. She smiled as she has been here many times before and within the forest there was the very place of all dragon kind. The High Council of Dragons lay within it and with her parents part of the council just made it much more inviting.

        Selena slowly opened her grasp and let out her son as he lay on her open palms giving him a warm smile.

         “Hello Bryan, did you enjoy your trip?” She asked.

         Bryan groaned a bit as he stretched his body out for being kept in a small tight space really kept his body locked up despite some room to move.

         “I really wish I could have stayed out and rode on your back mommy.” He answered stepping off her palms and stretched a little more as Selena laid his bag and water bottle next to him.

         “I know dear, but a trip that long you would have eventually grown tired and that would have lead into trouble I’m afraid.” She told him but understood how he felt.

          “I understand. So…where are we?” Bryan asked picking up his bag and bottle putting it in the bag.

         “We are here in a preserved forest. Deep within lies the entrances to the council chambers so please come along.” She said starting to walk into the forest along the path. Bryan with haste quickly ran up to her and walked alongside her.

         They walked through the dense woods along the dirt laid out pathway which was made from constant walk through. Bryan didn’t know what to expect as he walked beside Selena as he looked through the path trying to make out anything different but he wasn’t seeing anything. All he was seeing was just the same typical forest

        “Mommy…where is everyone?” Bryan asked with a disappointed look for he was expecting many dragons or at least something else other than a typical forest.

        “Don’t worry little one. We will be there shortly and you will see what I know you’re expecting to see.” Selena assured with a smile walking on.


        They continued to walk together for a few more minutes till finally Bryan’s eyes met something that was out of the ordinary within the woods. Standing within a circle of rocks stood alone a crystal that was half the size of he is. The Lone dragon Crystal stood within the center of rocks as if it was there to mark something.

         “What’s that crystal doing here?” Bryan pondered out loud scratching his head in confusion as he didn’t know what it meant as Selena chuckled.

  “That Crystal is the entrance to where the Council resides child.” She explained as she reached over and laid a talon on it as soon as she did a slight rumble shook the ground a bit and the Crystal lowered into the ground out of sight.

Bryan hurried towards Selena’s front leg and held on as the ground shook some more but Selena knew what was happening and didn’t flinch but lowered her head to Bryan gently nuzzling him reassuring him that nothing bad is going on. Bryan watched as where the crystal was as slowly the ground opened from the center and slowly expanded out.

Bryan gasped as the ground opened up in a full circle revealing a path that led below underground as Selena chuckled at his shocked face.

“Impressive isn’t it?” She asked with a teasing tone.

All Bryan could do was nod as Selena wrapped her tail around him and settled him on her back and proceeded to walk down the entrance and just as she walked in the entrance closed behind her.

The Underground path they walked was light with many dragon crystals so brightly that it was like daytime underground. Bryan was dumbfounded on how could have not guessed at the fact of why there was such a crystal there for it now made sense that it was an entrance and more to the fact that it was underground to hide from any human in case any were around.

Selena carried her son on her back as they continued down the path and started to pass open passage ways as Bryan looked on and went wide eyed at what he saw what was in them. Some had storages of food of deceased animals ready for feasting. Some had piles of many different colors of dragon crystals. What more surprised Bryan was that the other passage ways had Dragons in them.

Dragons of many sizes filled the passage ways. Some younger or older than Selena. Some Dragons had little ones just like Sarika and other Dragons were in their respective nests with clutches of eggs.

“Oh my…” Bryan was completely out of breath staring at so many of these Silver looking dragons many of them so different ye the same. Many of them returned his gaze looking upon him as Selena walked by them. Many of them gave Bryan a welcoming smile as some of the little dragons wanted to get a closer look by flying up him but were called back by their elders.

Selena smiled widely as she came upon a very large passageway with a crystal attached to the middle of the wall which to Bryan figured had to be a door that as guarded by two dragons that were much larger than she was. They knew who Selena was and who the human was riding her back. Despite their high discipline they gave Bryan a smile as well showing he was welcome. Selena laid a talon on the crystal and it opened up to reveal a very large looking chamber. In the middle of it laid a Table made out of crystal with water inside it.

A Group of Dragons surrounded this pool.  They were Elder Dragons greatly old from their lifetimes as some had their horns extended and curved greatly. Some had scars and old injuries that have healed but remained from battles and other ravages of time. Their scales were a bit faded if not a few missing off of their bodies but they wore what appeared to be white silk robes that covered most of their bodies and around them were many books that appeared to be from modern times all the way to ancient times.

Selena graciously entered and bowed to them. “Wise Council I bring you what have requested. My Adopted Son Bryan.” Selena said with high respect.

“Welcome back my daughter. Please rise and bring your child forward.” One Dragon with one scratched eye asked with soft grunting in his voice from high age as he stood up slightly higher than Selena.

“Yes Father.”  Selena replied lowering herself and used her tail to put Bryan on the ground. Bryan looked at this magnificent dragon. His appearance almost demanded respect but yet he held something gentle along with the other dragons that stood around him. “Go to your new grandfather Bryan.” Selena told the astonished boy.

Bryan carefully took one step after another forward towards the group of dragons as the one that appeared to be Selena’s Father watched his every step and smiled at him as the boy stopped.

“Closer.” The High Dragon insisted

Obeying Bryan took more steps toward him rubbing his hands together very nervous meeting him and hoped he or the others wouldn’t hate him.

The Dragon slowly threw up his claw telling Bryan he was close enough and gently lifted his chin up to look him in the eyes. He looked deep within them “Your eyes tell a tale of sadness but also a tale of happiness.” He smiled. “My Daughter has taken you young Bryan as her child am I correct?”

“Yes sir.” Bryan answered as the Dragon withdrew his claw from him.

“I am Galaron.  Father to Selena and High Elder to the Council of Dragons. I welcome you to the Sacred Realm of Dragon Little Bryan.” Galaron said with a respectful bow to the young boy as the other Dragon Elders followed Suite as Bryan blushed at their modesty.

One of the Elders walked next to Galaron and stood by him. The Dragon has some of its horns broken or bent on its head and some scales were missing on her chest. “Little Bryan, you’re the first human to grace this councils presence in over a hundred years.” It spoke in an old feminine voice.

Bryan tried to hide his shyness but with every one of them staring at him he couldn’t as Selena from behind came up and gently rubbed his back.

“No need to feel as you are. You are more than welcome here as Galaron said.” The Female Dragon assured. “Allow me to introduce myself. I am Saria second high Elder to this council and you already know my daughter your adoptive mother.”

Bryan looked back at Selena who smiled at him. She was apparently the Daughter of not just members of the council. She was the Daughter of the ones who overlook the entire council itself.  

“Allow us to welcome you to your new Family Bryan.” Galaron said. “You have much to learn and much to live by but for now little one. Allow this Day to become yours. Today Bryan, you are one of us. In Sprit and Body you are now Bryan child of dragons. Welcome and embrace your heritage.”

Galaron introduced a red crystal from a compartment in his robe bringing down to Bryan who took it but then it shattered making the boy jump in fright as the fragments swirled magically around him. The Fragments then invaded his body as little red veins traveled up and down his body leading up to his hands as Bryan watched as the many lines led up to the palms of his hands and once the red magic lines reach up to them they flash causing Bryan to close his eyes for a second then reopened them to see what formed within his skin of his palms.

Within his skin almost like a tattoo implanted on palms of his hands was an insignia that looked like the crystal table that was in the room but along with that there was a head of silver implanted in the middle of the insignia’s.

“The Insignia upon your palms are the marks of the Council. They show that you are now one with the race of Dragons and child of one who is related to this High Order.” Saria explained leaning down and nuzzled her new grandson as Selena behind him started to leak tears of happiness as Zenith entered with Romana wrapped around his neck as he arrived in time to see his son decelerated into race of dragons.

“Well done my son.” Zenith proudly said leaning down to let Romana slither off of him as he walked up to Selena who happy leaned into him and kiss him happily as he returned it as Romana came to Bryan and gave him a very happy hug.

“Welcome to your new life little Bryan.” Romana happily said as Bryan returned the hug to her as The Council of Dragons all bowed to the boy.

“What say you Bryan?” Galaron asked.

“Thank you…thank you all.” He choked on his breath ready to cry as he looked on his palms to see the insignias on them and closed his eyes.
